Reunion Parties - Look Who's Coming
Attention Reunion Classes of 1955, 1960, 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985, 1995, and 2000! Your reunion party is only weeks away! Go to the Reunion Website and view the details for each reunion party and then register online. Visit the "Look Who's Coming" section of your reunion webpage to see who is already registered to attend.
Painting Stories: An Exhibit by Ann Truog Hardy ’55 As part of ongoing efforts to lift up the achievements of alumni, the Office of Alumni Relations is showing nine paintings by Ann Truog Hardy ’ 55 in the Alumni Center (2nd floor, Roy and Lillie Cullen Building). Mrs. Hardy, a member of the 50-year reunion class, is an accomplished painter who has won numerous awards for her work. Meet the artist during a reception to be held on Friday, October 21 at 3:30 p.m. in the Alumni Center.
Homecoming Parade & Picnic A Southwestern tradition! With a wide range of parade entrants, including student organizations and reunion classes, the competition is high for the "Grand Champion" prize. Stay after the parade for the Homecoming Picnic, where reunion classes will be honored, parade winners announced, barbecue served by Salt Lick, and music played by SALT (a SU homegrown band). Don't forget to pick up an autographed copy of The Wine Roads of Texas: An Essential Guide to Texas Wines and Wineries by Wes Marshall ’ 74. Don't miss the good friends and fun!
SING! 2005: A Bold New Flavor Faculty, administration, and staff are impersonated, current campus events are mocked, and fun is had by all! It promises to be another unforgettable year with Ted Meredith ’ 04 as the alumni emcee and Cliff Miller ’ 07as the student emcee. Jameson 5K at Southwestern Fun Run/Walk and 1-Mile Mosey Pack your sneakers! You will not want to miss the 5th Annual Jameson 5K at Southwestern Fun Run/Walk and 1-Mile Mosey. Proceeds benefit the Jaysn Jameson ’ 90 Memorial Scholarship. To register, visit www.Jameson5K.org.
Recognition Reception: A Texas Taste Off Members of the 1840 and Brown Societies and the President's Council are invited to attend a blind tasting of Texas' best wines against some of the world's finest. Wes Marshall ’ 74 guides guests through nearly eighteen wines during this Friday evening event.
SU Alumni Choir
Former alumni chorale members are invited to reunite this year during Homecoming & Reunion Weekend. Henry Holloway ’55 has graciously agreed to conduct the Alumni Choir again this year. The Alumni Choir will sing during the Homecoming and Worship Service on Sunday, October 23 at 11 a.m. If you would like to participate, please e-mail the Alumni Office at alumni@southwestern.edu or call 1-800-960-6363.
"The Glass Menagerie" This poetic and complex drama, which was first produced in 1944, is Tennessee Williams' most autobiographical work and one of his greatest plays. "The Glass Menagerie" will be performed on Friday (10/21) at 8 p.m., Saturday (10/22) at 3 p.m. and Sunday (10/23) at 3 p.m. To reserve tickets, contact the Fine Arts Box Office at 512-863-1378. Hours 1-5 p.m., Monday - Friday.
Alumni University Now is your chance to revisit the classroom, without studying! On Saturday of Homecoming & Reunion Weekend, join SU faculty as they teach a mini-class on some of their most popular subjects. Each Alumni University course is open to all Homecoming attendees and are hosted by the 2005 Reunion Classes. View the Alumni University schedule at www.southwestern.edu/homecoming/schedule.htm.
Little Pirates University Homecoming & Reunion Weekend is not only for the grown-ups of the family! Southwestern offers tons of activities that are sure to please the children of the family. With a parade, picnic, and "Little Pirates University" (for children ages 4-12), your child is sure to have as much fun as you! Register your little pirate today!
Alumni Receptions and Open Houses Homecoming & Reunion Weekend provides you with a number of opportunities to attend organizational open houses and affinity receptions on Saturday afternoon and evening. Check the Homecoming schedule for specific locations and time information.
Homecoming Worship Service Attend the Homecoming Worship Service with music by the Alumni Choir and a memorial recognition of alumni who have died during the past year.
Pirate Athletics
Cheer on the Men's and Women's Soccer teams and rally for the Lacrosse Alumni Game, where the 2005 LSA Division B Champions take on alumni lacrosse players. Check the Homecoming Schedule for game times. GO PIRATES!
