Welcome SU Class of 2007!
The first-year class entering in the fall comes from the largest applicant pool in Southwestern history, with 1,760 applications for admission. The Class of 2007 will have approximately 350 students, 43% men, 57% women. Minority students constitute 22% of the class. First-year students will arrive on the SU campus August 16 to begin Orientation.

Another Great Night at Minute Maid Park!
On June 18, more than 130 alumni, friends and students turned out for the Houston Night at Minute Maid Park! A special thanks goes to Kenda Evans '92, and Steve Smith '85, and the Houston Area Leadership Committee for their work to coordinate this successful event. Send-Off Parties for the Class of 2007!
Send-off parties are opportunities for alumni and current students to welcome new students and parents to the Southwestern community. Southwestern will hold send-off parties in Austin, Amarillo, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio. GOLD Holiday Happy Hours--Recruiting organizers NOW!
GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) Happy Hours are great opportunities for alumni to network at a favorite watering hole in your local area and catch up with other GOLD alumni. Have you recently moved to a new city? Looking for a few more friendly faces? Organizing a GOLD happy hour is fun, easy and a great way to meet other Southwestern alumni. CONNECTIONS:
Another Great Year for Phonathon!
Phonathon ended April 24 and was another successful year! Ten callers and two student managers raised over $128,000 from 2,300 alumni, parent and friend pledges. Special thanks to the graduating senior callers who proved integral to Phonathon's success: Joe Alexander '03, William Key '03, Mark Stoner '03 and Scott Vandigriff '03.

JOB LEADS: Are you interested in receiving e-mail updates about job leads from Career Services? Curious about advertising job leads to other alumni? If so, contact Alexandra Anderson, Assistant Director of Career Services, at career.services@southwestern.edu to be added to the job lead e-mail list. At any time you choose, you can be removed from the e-mail list.
CAREER SERVICES FOR ALUMNI: Career Services continues to offer resources to alumni regarding their career planning and development. Visit for access to numerous career-related links, a calendar of events, including recruiting and job fair information and MonsterTRAK (online job search and resume referral system). The Career Services Resource Center is open Monday-Friday, including during the summer, with no appointment necessary. Individual advising appointments also are available, pending availability. They also serve alumni via phone and e-mail with their specific career-related questions, including resume and cover letter critiques and graduate school and job search strategies. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Career Services is looking for a few good alumni! Alumni are needed with interviewing/recruiting experience for "Professional Practice Interview Day," recent graduates to help with "Real World 101," alumni from a wide variety of fields for the annual "Career Connections" networking event and other specialty events, such as "Accounting Issues Panel" and a potential "Careers in Humanities" panel this year. For more information about how to get involved in these events or if you are willing to be contacted by students and other alumni with questions about your career path, please contact career.services@southwestern.edu.
Austin Challenge Ends June 30
Joanne Powers Austin '74 and Brent Austin have challenged alumni from the 1970s to show their support for SU. For every class in the decade with 75 donors by June 30, the Austins will donate $7500-for a total of $75,000. Here is a snapshot of where the Challenge stands to date:
