SU Awarded $8.5 Million to Inaugurate Innovative Liberal Arts Program
On Tuesday, September 10, President Schrum announced that SU had been selected to receive $8.5 million from the Robert & Ruby Priddy Charitable Trust of Wichita Falls, Texas, to be used to inaugurate an innovative program that supports the University's focus on enriching its distinctive undergraduate liberal arts experience. Southwestern Named Nation’s 4th Best “Academic Bang for Your Buck”
The 2003 Princeton Review College Guide has rated Southwestern University the nation's 4th best "Academic Bang for Your Buck." Rice University was named the nation’s best bargain, while Texas A&M ranked 12th in the guide’s listing. The 2003 Princeton College Guide has been published since 1992 and is based on a national survey of students.

Presentation of the 2002 Distinguished Alumnus Award
The Southwestern University Alumni Association established the Distinguished Alumna/us Award as a method of honoring alumni who have brought distinction to themselves and their alma mater through outstanding service in their profession, business, or vocation; through service to the community, state or nation; or through creativity in their vocation or avocation. Each year, the Alumni Association chooses one or more of its members for to receive its highest honor.
On September 27, Southwestern will present the 2002 Distinguished Alumnus Award to Dr. Albert Sanders ’54. Dr. Sanders is an orthopedic surgeon who developed a keen interest in treating scoliosis. He has traveled throughout the world helping doctors learn new treatments and performing surgery on patients who couldn’t afford it otherwise. Homecoming 2002
Southwestern’s Homecoming 2002 will be held October 25-27. This year’s theme is “Expect the Unexpected.” From start to finish, the weekend is filled with fun activities.
