Schrum. The campus community is anticipating over 5,000 people to attend the inauguration ceremony. For the schedule of inaugural events visit http://www.southwestern.edu/inauguration
Inauguration Webcast - "Virtual Attendance" If you are unable to attend the Inauguration in Georgetown of Southwestern's 14th President, be present virtually! For the first time in SU history, there will be a live webcast of the ceremony over the Internet. View the inaugural procession, the inaugural address by President Jimmy Carter and the installation of Jake B. Schrum from your home or office computer. The webcast will be aired at 10:00 a.m. CDT, April 4, at http://ali.apple.com/events/southwestern/. You will need the Quicktime program installed on your computer in order to view the inauguration festivities on the Web. The webcast page includes instructions on getting/installing the Quicktime player for both Windows and Macs.
"What Happened to the Online Alumni E-mail Directory?" Recently, SU removed its online alumni directory due to "spammers" who had misused the address list. In an effort to improve the directory's security and to provide additional services to SU alumni, the University is launching a permanent, password protected, e-mail forwarding service. Provided free of charge to all Southwestern alumni, this forwarding service will provide you with your own permanent SU e-mail address and access to a password-protected online alumni directory. Watch your e-mail for instructions on registering for this new service.
HAPPENINGS: Inauguration Survival Tips Southwestern is expecting an unprecedented number of SU alumni, parents & friends to visit the SU campus for the 14th Presidential Inauguration on Wednesday morning, April 4. With more than 5000 guests expected, registration has been closed. However, you may bring a lawn chair and find a spot on the Academic Mall or you can watch the festivities on the Web at http://ali.apple.com/events/southwestern/
A reminder if you are planning to attend Inauguration: Unless you have a special parking permit you will not be able to park on campus. Parking is available in San Gabriel Park. Please allow ample time to reach inaugural parking. Shuttles will run continuously from the park to campus beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 4. Watch for signs on IH-35 for directions to San Gabriel Park. For more information about the Inauguration, visit http://www.southwestern.edu/inauguration
