The Greater Austin Association is seeking officers!

Hello Greater Austin Alumni!

Austin isn’t that different from Southwestern. Austin has bats; Southwestern has crickets. Austin has the ACL Festival; Southwestern has the Brown Symposium. Austin has Barton Springs; Southwestern has, um, a couple of fountains.

And, what they both have in common is us, the Southwestern alumni who have chosen to live in Austin and the surrounding area. We’ve formed The Greater Austin Association of Southwestern University Alumni to give you an opportunity to reconnect with the thoughtful, fun and diverse community that has defined Southwestern for generations.

But this association is about more than fond memories. Through it you can meet new people with whom you share a common bond, make new business and professional contacts, and help shape the future of an institution that may have changed your life. We plan to offer a wide range of events - from happy hours to service projects to conversations with scholars – to reach all of the alumni living in and around Austin. Over time, we hope to build a community that is as fulfilling as those you established at Southwestern.

We want to hear from you about what you’re hoping to gain from a local alumni association. Please e-mail your thoughts to greateraustinalumni@southwestern.edu, and let us know how we can best communicate with you. Also, we'd love to know about stuff you have going on that we could post on our site — a workplace accomplishment, an upcoming performance, or anything you'd like your local fellow alumni to know. In the meantime, stay tuned to this Web page to find out when and where we’ll be gathering and how you can be a part of it.

We look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones as we begin a new phase in our lives as alumni of Texas’ first (and best) University.
